"Healing presence, lasting results." These four words encapsulate my recent experience as a patient/client of John Hahn’s acupuncture practice. Repetitive stress at work (I look through a microscope most of my work day) and a lifestyle of Cross Fit and high intensity activities bring me constant neck, shoulder and back pain. A few visits to John’s Manhattan office gave me immediate relief. For this, John used a combination of old (ancient) acupuncture and new (conventional) myofacial needle release methods. I got quick and lasting reduction of stress/pain of my right neck, right upper arm/shoulder and lower back. John’s sessions are as long as a standard massage, but with quicker and more sustained relief. What’s more, you’ll enjoy John’s deep knowledge of anatomy, eastern healing and his calming presence. I recommend John Hahn’s acupuncture practice without reservation.

On the eve of a trip to New York last winter, a sudden flare-up of recurring tendonitis in my right hand was painful enough to require that I return to the use of a custom brace. Over the years, treatment for this condition consisted of icing and restricted use of my right hand for several days and at times for several weeks. As a science writer, I had reported occasionally about acupuncture and when John Hahn suggested the treatment, I agreed to try it. After an examination and many questions about the possible sources of the pain and tenderness, he used a combination of acupuncture techniques, which he patiently described in advance. After the session, and over the next several hours, the pain in my hand became so diminished I was able to stop the use of over-the-counter analgesics and comfortably use my hand to grip and keyboard without the brace. John’s calm and confident approach made the treatment relaxing, as well. For anyone considering acupuncture, a key decision point is the selection of a knowledgeable, serious practitioner who takes the time to listen to patients and answer their questions. John Hahn is an exemplar and I would (and will) choose him again.

My first experience with acupuncture was in the capable hands of John Hahn. After hoisting a heavy bag in an overhead bin, I was experiencing a mild but nagging pain in my left shoulder that I tolerated for a year. So I thought sure why not give acupuncture a try. A day later the pain was gone and hasn’t returned. The next time something like that happens I won’t wait a year to fix it.
