Different Styles for Different needs.

There are Five different styles that can be tailored to your symptoms and needle sensitivity. more than one style  is Usually integrated in each treatment including electr0stimulation and Heat therapy.

1. Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM): Developed by Dr. Mark Seem,  this style is a perfect marriage between classical acupuncture and Western osteopathy physical medicine.  Arguably this is the best way to release trigger points (Janet Travell, M.D.) in the muscles. This style focuses on addressing complicated myofascial constrictions.  The needling style is a bit more aggressive than other styles, however the effect is remarkably immediate.

2. Kiiko Matsumoto Style (KM): Master Matsumoto has been developing this style over the past three decades. When using this system, a practitioner follows an abdominal palpation sequence.  This establishes a diagnosis and suggests several treatment options. It combines classical Chinese medical principles with the Western pathophysiology in a way that facilitates understanding of both systems.  As far as needling styles go, it is one of the most subtle, yet delivers profound results.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): This is a modernized version of classical Chinese medicine post Mao.  If APM and KM were viewed as modern art, TCM would be considered like Renaissance art; the basis of all techniques.

4. Traditional Korean Style:  This resembles classic medicine the most.  It emphasizes ‘Five Element Theory’ and ‘Ying/Yang Theory.’  Like KM style, the needing is very subtle but the needles are retained longer than other styles.

5. Manual Therapy: This is used for those who are needle-phobic.  The ancient Eastern bodywork methods like Amma and Tui-na are used.  Cupping and guasha can be incoporated as well.
